Stain

Stain was the name of a one day exhibition and private view of; Liz Rochford, Katie O’Brien, Aleksander Mechlinski, Saber Ali, Martha Bebe Clark, Amy Smith, Ceri Ann Jones, Nathan Stone, Richard Waterton, Denny Clues, Kacper Dzialak, Max Richardson, Mario Radev, Eggs Baxter, Rafael Mendes, Luc Wilkinson and Elena Ward works (some names are missed, as they weren’t listed on the events hosts). Organised by our peer Liz Rochford, curated and hosted by the former mentioned artists involved.

The exhibition took place on the 10th of March 2017 and was held at the beautiful grade II listed Caroline Gardens Chapel on Asylum Road in Peckham, London. The site was rented for £250, split between all of us involved, from Asylum & Maverick Projects.

The only draw backs were poorly organisation of the dismount of work on the same day, that everyone there struggled with. Note to self: encourage everyone to book a van back as well as there.

As a group we tachled the open space, and put up our work using the -previously seen as obstacles- wooden chairs in the Chapel. Using the chairs as supports, structures and props, the space evolved as more artists came to put their work. It felt quietly harmonious and shifted a lot before the opening at 4pm. The turn out was nice and lively, consisting of friends, friends of friends, university tutors and quite a few walkers-by.
