Note: the proposal went through, the exhibition went well, but due to availability, I was unable to put up my work myself (which was the original plan). Luckily for me, the curators were very kind and put up the work to the best of there ability without all of my materials. I carried on some of the installation ideas into my final piece for second year. Using pink sparkling wall paper I had ordered among other materials.
I’ve learnt that if I’m traveling someone, to find a way to order materials ahead of myself…
‘Hi team URL-IRL,
I am in the middle of studying Fine Art: Print and Time Based Media (PTBM) at UAL Wimbledon, London. I would love to be a part of the exhibition URL-IRL and I’m happy to travel up to Bristol on the 2nd of April (or when everything is being set up at the gallery space) if everything goes to plan. As I really want to have a hand in installing work (not just my own).
My proposal is quite flexible, but I’ve tailored it more to the gallery space, I was working with a very different space in Stain.
I do a lot of research into art revolving around virtual realities and the human pychology surrounding it since coming to university, so I’m intrigued what everyone is producing around the idea of internet culture and memes.
Cheers,
Martha Bebe Clark

Proposal:
Illustration of plan for ‘GIF-ts for Lovers’ 2016 – 2017 – Martha Bebe Clark
Aim:
‘GIF-ts for Lovers’ is playing with communication, ‘visual aesthetic’ and the distortion of a made up online romance through the lense of a screen. The looping animations (hopefully) are humorous visual inuendos and reflect certain corners of online life (fetish/anonymity/cartoon). The clashing colours reflecting the sometimes overly stimulating and seductive world of the internet.
Please feel free to ask questions or critique..!
Measurements & Deets:
This would be a full wall and part floor, two screened installation of two silent looping animations. A painted strip of hot pink that spans 34” wide and aprox 70” in height with an out jut of 25”. Two wall mounting 18” screens with USB connection placed over the painting.
Flexibility:
-The painted pink strip could be a strip of carpet or wall paper (not as cost effective as paint).
-Can be changed to the looping animations taking it in turns on one screen (would take away from the tumblr-esque wall feel).
