SELF EVALUATION FORM

UNIT: 9
LEVEL: Third Year
STUDENT NAME: Martha Bebe Clark
With reference to the Learning Outcomes for the Unit write a summary or bullet point list of what you consider to be:
The key achievements of your work on the unit (maximum 100 words)
I have created an installation that reflects well on my studio practice, whilst still trying new techniques and branching out into larger scale installation.
The most useful things that you learnt (maximum 100 words)
The materials I have been using are very accessible (PVC sheeting, Emulsion paint, Modroc, ect), but I’ve learnt it’s not to do with the price of the material, it’s about how it relates to your work. Although not cheap in their volume, I feel that pristine finished aren’t everything and that my work has different meaning with these more ‘DIY’ materials.
The issues that you found challenging and how you set about overcoming them (maximum 100words)
Due to personal problems that I have logged in an EC form my schedule was messed up completely. What was most affected by this was my plans for a new animation and detailed analysis in my research journal. To counter these problems I used earlier animations (that are still relevant) in my work and also made my plans smaller while trying to keep the integrity of the work.
List what you now consider to be the main areas for development that you intend to focus on in the next unit? (maximum 100 words)
After university, I am hoping to continue my work in this cartoonish style. I’m still intrigued into finding the balance between animation and sculptural elements. The dialogue of the spacial/physical elements following the on-screen animations needs more consideration and I feel I can get a lot from it.
