This methodology seminar and text workshop was on the 3rd of December, 2015, with Paul Tarrago

We covered a lot more than the technique erasure, but this stuck with me the most. I think it possibly has something to do with how you start with something, you don’t have the scary possibility of the blank word document or white canvas. It is cathartic to bring lopsided penmanship to a piece of text.

I also took one of my pages and recorder myself reading aloud. Next I recorder the sound of myself typing it out and combined the two. The fuzzy, wurring background noise of my room could be seen as a plus.

Visual erasure was covered, reference Erased De Kooning. Recently I mixed these more organic methods with digital art, by zooming very closely into a landscape that I took of London, until it was just pixels, then taking a screen shot. Simple, taking the idea of cropping to the extreme, resolving it down to colour and symmetrical shapes. Thinking about the make-up of all the images we absorb through screens.
