Taking stock of Peter Lanyon’s inspiration from myths and biblical tales, I have been looking at a few Greek ones, specifically the tale of Apollo and Daphne.

The idea of transformation into nature (a laurel tree) being the physical protection needed is haunting and morbid. The writing of the transformation is very tactile, adding a differently experience to the painting itself.
