SELF EVALUATION FORM

UNIT: 3

LEVEL: Stage 1

STUDENT NAME: Martha Bebe Clark

With reference to the Learning Outcomes for the Unit write a summary or bullet point list of what you consider to be:

The key achievements of your work on the unit (maximum 100 words)

  • Use of the green screen for the first time.

  • Wide range of support work.

  • The paper costume I made for my film piece.

  • Animating with a person as a subject for the first time (animating to a large scale).

  • Having a balance between playfulness in execution and having more extensive academic research behind this.

  • Building a film like a drawing, not planning it.

The most useful things that you learnt (maximum 100 words)

  • Green screen and more in-depth use of Adobe Premiere software.

  • How to make GIFs with Adobe Photoshop.

  • Sound equipment/microphone induction.

  • Camera induction.

  • Incorporating copy right free stock audio/images/film into my work.

The issues that you found challenging and how you set about overcoming them (maximum 100 words)

  • Because of the lateness of my planning where to film, I did not book the green screen room in college, instead I used the Film and Video room which ended up being aesthetically more interesting. The idea of being able to see the construction of the piece ended up being highly interesting.

  • Using elements of performance in my film piece was difficult. What helped me was talking to my tutor and looking back onto my research such as Joachim Koester’s work.

List what you now consider to be the main areas for development that you intend to focus on in the next unit? (maximum 100 words)

  • I am very interested in exposing modern, Western idealisation of other countries in a playful manner.

  • I also wish to delve more into the distortion of old films.

  • Work on bringing my film work into more physical spaces by using installation.

  • Exploring animation and start to research into the uses of animation in Fine Art.

  • Explore location filming/animation.

  • More in-depth use of sound recording.
